Experience our tea as it unfurls into
a seamless expression of you.
To us tea is more than a beverage. It's an experience.
Enjoying a lively cup of hot tea can stimulate all five senses.
Listen for the sounds as the water begins to a boil. The noise of molecules bouncing around in the kettle creates an urgency in bringing together the hot cup of water with the leaf. That sound heightens the anticipation for that first morning sip.
The aroma seeps into the sinus passage bringing a plethora of scents. Sitting quietly with your cup may bring back memories of a time spent with a dear friend or special relative because aroma often triggers memory.
The sight of tea is beautiful. The striking differences in color between a bright green matcha, the amber hues of oolongs, the rich darkness of an assam, and the rusty redness of a rooibos bring pleasure to the eye. Watching the leaf unfurl (the agony of the leaf), the slow, swirling dance of leaves, delights the imagination.
With that first sip, taste receptors encounter the sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami stimulation in the mouth. But tea is complex and the combination of flavors is seldom straight forward. To perceive the many nuances of tea's character and flavor can be a life-long quest of pleasure.
And tea has a tactile sensation as well. In the mouth, sensations of dryness from the tannins, the delicacy of white tea, the smooth viscosity of oolongs or the heftiness of black teas all contribute to the feel of tea. In the body, from the soothing effect of L-theanines to the stimulating awareness from caffeine, tea offers what the Chinese refer to as a "gentle lift". Tea brings us comfort.
To "experience" tea is to take time to pamper yourself. Take time to notice each of its sensory pleasures. Take time to learn the culture, traditions and spiritual ceremonies of taking tea. Take time, with a group of friends or as a quiet moment in solitude, to savor that simple cup of hot water with a leaf.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy.
